ABOUT NEVER RIDE ALONE
Never Ride Alone is about reaching as many people as possible while letting them know they are never alone. It is about encouraging communities to address suicide at a local level, while inspiring individuals to be a difference in saving a life.
Richard Lima was originally planning on riding his bike from Mooresville, NC, to Albuquerque, NM, as a representation of his recent move between the two states. With the passing of his brother to suicide, Richard decided that he needs to commit his ride to help others. He extended his ride to go all the way to the west coast, he reached out to NAMI Albuquerque, told his story, and Never Ride Alone was born. As Richard rides across the states, he will be stopping at local NAMI affiliates, connecting with national organizations, building a following, and motivating others to get involved in his cause.
MEET RICHARD LIMA
In August 2021, Richard Lima and his wife moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico from Mooresville, North Carolina. Richard had always dreamed of riding his bicycle across America and thought this cross-country move was the perfect chance. He planned to start in May, but in early April, he received word that a close family member had died of suicide and immediately the plans for his ride changed. Richard knew he had to ride for suicide awareness and prevention.
